Leneva is within the City of Wodonga council area in Northern Victoria and is a key area for future residential and community development. Opening in 2026, the new Kerribana Primary School will have places for up to 525 students from Prep to Year 6, including 50 students with disabilities.
The electrical consultancy and architecture firm teamed to create culturally nourishing spaces: places where belonging, identity, and shared experience are valued and celebrated. The Victorian School Building Authority’s mantra includes embracing the notion that every Victorian student has the right to quality education regardless of their background, personal circumstances, or where they live.
Hear and Learn was commissioned as part of this project. Our SoundHouse device was installed in 37 spaces to achieve these outcomes:
-
To complement trauma-informed policy and create spaces that learners consider safe and comfortable by allowing teachers to speak with a conversational voice using our Flexmike microphones – a key technology to support trauma-informed teaching environments.
-
Achieving technological convergence by using ceiling and wall speakers as part of the SoundHouse bundle to broadcast screen audio as well as voices.
-
Allowing all audio – voices, screens and PA/front office messaging – to be augmented to any and all receivers in hearing aids of any learner, visitor, or teacher.
Kerribana Primary has two double-storey buildings with administration areas, a library, learning neighbourhoods, and STEAM spaces.
We support builders and electricians to earn feedback like this from Joss Group Project Manager Alex Rowe:
“Dealing with Hear and Learn has been a pleasure. Getting equipment to site on a tight schedule was crucial. Along with online meetings with PA and AV people, it has been easy,” offered Mr Rowe.
And from Brad Fisk of NLM Electrical:
“We often get handed tasks to complete which are a little tedious. However, the SoundHouse installation was simple. Great instructions and easy to follow. And we were able to confirm locations quickly with great response from Hear and Learn.”
This project demonstrates how to design learning environments where every student and community member feels they truly belong.
